YouTube Offering Picture-in-picture mode on iPhone for all its premium users

YouTube is currently one of the most popular video platforms. From serving as an entertainment medium to providing information and more, the popularity of this app is growing faster than nearly all other video platforms today.

It was recently that YouTube released good news for all its iPhone YouTube premium users. They have launched a testing program called Picture-in-Picture mode which could be a great help and ease of task for many.

One of the prime benefits of this feature is that when you close the YouTube app, the screen window appears in a smaller size which you can easily move to any corner of your screen according to your ease and comfort. It can be resized simply by pinching with your fingers until you get the desired window size, however big or small.

The users can return to their video after browsing apps simply by tapping on the video, which ultimately leads you to YouTube. Being a mobile feature, the video played gets paused when the phone is locked. While at the same time, the audio will be played in the background.

How to get Picture-in-Picture mode?

Though Apple has inbuilt a feature of Picture-in-Picture mode, YouTube has never made this feature available on Apple. As YouTube has launched pip in iOS as an experimental feature, it will be available only periodically. Hence, this very feature has to be activated manually for using it.

Here are the simple steps to be followed for activating Picture-in-Picture mode in iOS phones:

  • Make sure you are using the latest software version of iOS/iPadOS.
  • Open a window and browse www.youtube.com with your Google account linked to it.
  • Navigate into www.youtube.com/new
  • Go to settings and scroll down to “Picture-in-Picture on iOS” mode.
  • Click on “try it out”.
  • Now, open your YouTube app and start watching any video and visit back to your ‘home screen’ simply by pressing the home button or swiping up.

You are now all set to watch your YouTube videos along with browsing any other app of your choice.
