OUR TAKE ON THINGS
Social Media Marketing - December 11th, 2013
Facebook is leaving no stone unturned to make the social media platform more user-friendly. The recent addition to the interface is the five star rating button displayed on the pages of places and businesses. The new feature, positioned right beneath the cover photo and business name, allows users to rate the business or brands with ease.
As of now, Facebook has introduced this feature only on selected pages in its desktop version on a test basis. Though there is no word from the social media giant regarding a broader rollout, it is anticipated that this feature will be available on all pages soon.
The new feature will be most beneficial to businesses and brands as they can very well know what their fans think about them. Till now people were using search engines or review sites to gather information about businesses. From now on, they will also use Facebook to find out what people are saying about you, your business, and the products and services you offer.
According to a Facebook spokesperson, the social media giant is extending star ratings feature from mobile to desktop version so that users can easily discover great businesses around them. “Star ratings encourage more people to rate a business, making it eligible to appear in news feed and help others discover a business they didn't know about previously. For businesses, this also leads to greater brand awareness,” he said.
Once the new addition is introduced to all pages, your brand or business can top the competition if you have incredible user reviews and ratings. That means, getting users to fill up that star rating on your page will require a lot more effort and interaction.
